Its Christmas time and everyone wants to renovate their homes to celebrate the festive season & celebrate family relationship and friendship. One can renovate their home within a fixed budget. The idea is to get quality stuff which is economical too.
1) Colors: Colors are more important than any other actual design elements as color adds value to our homes and creates mood and elevates feelings to anyone who visits it. Rather than painting entire house, just add some touch of paint to a certain portion of your house like coloring your walls or ceiling, or a simple trimming paint job.
Red and Green are the official colors of Christmas. One can incorporate it to their decors. If one is really creative, they can transform some of older decor into newer treasures by using a bit of imagination – a can of spray paint here & there, a new ribbon there. So, whatever the case may be, know that one’s decorating theme should suit their lifestyle.
For example, if your decor has white or ivory tones, you may want to complement it with tiny white lights, flowers, cream colored candles and natural greenery. Or one may add crystal or glass ornaments to give decor extra sparkle. If your decor is in the earth tones, you may go for copper and bronze ornaments. If your tendency is toward jewel toned fabrics – emerald green, ruby red, gold, dark purple and sapphire blue ornaments can complement the décor theme.
2) Christmas Theme trees: Arrange your Christmas tree in such a way that it can be viewed from other areas of your house inside and out. You can place it in front of your window in the living room, or against a wall that you can see from the kitchen, or hallway.
Color combinations to showcase your tree throughout Christmas are white and silver, copper and bronze, burgundy and gold, ivory and gold, jewel tones (emerald green, sapphire blue, gold, red, purple) or all pastels.
3) Kitchen: You can place one or two mini evergreen trees in clay pots near the doorway and add mini white lights. One can tie a ribbon to their pantry door and pin Christmas cards to it. One can also replace soap dispenser with something more elegant – either in silver or gold.
So as you’re decorating your home for the Christmas holidays this year, be creative, have fun and enjoy every moment! The idea is to decorate for your lifestyle – not someone else’s.
